Our sport relies on the voluntary contributions of many people, including coaches, team managers, organisers and, of course, the athletes themselves. Training and races happen both on sunny and windy, wet days and there are occasions both when things go well and when things go badly.
We want all contributions to be both positive and valued, and while there are sometimes disappointments, these are often the best times to learn how to do things better.
It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure not only the safety and wellbeing of athletes, but also the welfare of all those who contribute to our sport. To this end, we have adopted a number of policies and codes of conduct, as described below.
Discretionary support is available for members as needed. Contact the welfare officers for any concerns.
If you identify an issue of concern, please contact one of our welfare officers promptly:
The Club’s Welfare Officers are Lizzy Smith and Jim Murphy (07790 834216), who can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org
If this is not possible, or not satisfactory, details for the England Athletics process for reporting welfare issues can be found here as well as a link to the England Athletics webpage here.
Westbury Harriers’ ‘default’ Codes of Conduct and other Policies are those produced by the national governing body, UK Athletics, and published on their website here
These policies include Codes of Conduct for Athletes, Coaches and Parents etc.
We review these policies as an ongoing activity, and occasionally produce our own supplementary policies.
Supplementary Westbury Harriers’ Policies
These policies have been recently reviewed, and are in addition to those provided by UK Athletics as above.
The following policies are pending review, as well as being reviewed as an ongoing activity.
