JUNIORS (AGE 11 UPWARDS)
INLINE WITH ENGLAND ATHLETICS’ GUIDELINES FOR RETURNING TO RUNNING (HERE), WE WILL BE ABLE TO RESUME TRAINING IN STAGES.
Junior training shall resume from the 29th March; as detailed by the coaches directly. This includes both sessions on Mondays & Thursdays.
Our Juniors train throughout the year (including school holidays) with the exception of Bank Holidays.
- Monday 7pm;
September to April: Coombe Dingle Sports Complex
May to August: Blaise Castle
- Tuesday 7pm; Yate Track (all year round)
- Thursday 7pm; Coombe Dingle Sports Complex (all year round)
On Mondays, we split into separate groups for girls and boys, and then smaller groups again according to ability, and go for a run. Don’t worry if you’ve not done any formal running before, we welcome all ability levels and we’re sure you’ll have enough energy for one of our sessions!
On Tuesdays and Thursdays we run structured sessions which include a warm up, technical drills, an interval session of running at varying paces and end with a cool down.
If you’re new to us, you’re welcome to come along and try up to three free sessions to find out if Westbury Harriers is right for you. If you enjoy yourself and would like to come back, we’ll ask you to become a member and join the club!
If you want to try any of the sessions please contact:
We will respond with information about when you can come along and what to expect from the session. Please ensure you are familiar with our code of conduct, complete this form and email it to the coaches beforehand.
Once you’re a paid-up member of Westbury Harriers, you will be able to run in the Gwent and Gloucestershire cross-country leagues during the winter, as well as regional and national relays and championships.
During the summer, we link up with our partner club, Yate and District Athletics Club, for track and field meets. There’s also the opportunity to take part in the club’s annual multi-terrain adventure run, the TrustFord Westbury Wipeout at Blaise Castle.
All of our junior sessions are led by dedicated volunteers who hold an England Athletics Leading or Coaching qualification. As our club relies solely on the help of volunteers, we would like to encourage parents and guardians to help support our sessions by volunteering or becoming a run leader.
