Welfare

Welfare

Our sport relies on the voluntary contributions of many people, including coaches, team managers, organisers and, of course, the athletes themselves. Training and races happen both on sunny and windy, wet days and there are occasions both when things go well and when things go badly.
We want all contributions to be both positive and valued, and while there are sometimes disappointments, these are often the best times to learn how to do things better.
It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure not only the safety and wellbeing of athletes, but also the welfare of all those who contribute to our sport. To this end, we have adopted a number of policies and codes of conduct, as described below.

If you identify an issue of concern, please contact one of our welfare officers promptly:

The Club’s Welfare Officers are Lizzy Smith and Mike Hopkins, who can be contacted at welfare@westburyharriers.co.uk

If this is not possible, or not satisfactory, details for the England Athletics process for reporting welfare issues can be found here as well as a link to the England Athletics webpage here.

Welfare Policies

Westbury Harriers’ default Codes of Conduct and other Policies can be found below:

We review these policies as an ongoing activity, and occasionally produce our own supplementary policies.

Supplementary Westbury Harriers’ Policies

These policies have been recently reviewed, and are in addition to those provided by UK Athletics as above.
The following policies are pending review, as well as being reviewed as an ongoing activity.
