Westbury Harriers – Weekly News
Editor’s Piece
We are lucky to have a lot more races taking place, which included yesterday’s Gwent League. If you know of an event that you think would be of interest to club members then do let me know. Some events are listed in this newsletter, others can be found in the events section of the Westbury Harriers Chat facebook page. A couple of sites on the internet are also useful for event listings, such as Fabian 4 and Full on Sport.
Club Intervals and Yate Track Sessions
Vicky’s session for this week is 4 minutes (90 seconds recovery) followed by 4 x 2 mins, 4 x 1 mins and a final 4 minutes all in with 1 minute recovery.
The suggested session for Yate Track on Tuesday is 6 x 400m (100m jog recovery) and 3 800m (200m jog recovery)
Club Birthday
Not only was it the Gwent League at Cardiff yesterday but also Tamsin’s birthday! After spending several hours searching the internet I managed to locate a couple of photo’s of Tamsin having her picture taken with eyes open! Happy birthday for yesterday Tamsin, I hope you had a great day.
Gwent League Fixture, Sunday 14th November, Brecon
The Gwent Cross Country League have now announced the details for the second event in the fixtures list. It will be on Sunday 14th November at Parc de Pugh, Brecon. Course map, timetable and travel/parking details will be produced nearer the time and published on the Gwent League website.
Brecon Weekend
Many thanks to Dan Summers, Dean Russell and Lou who organised the weekend break in Brecon for the club last weekend. It was a very successful trip and we were lucky to have perfect weather. On the Sunday we even had views from the top of Pen y Fan. A still from the Big Brecon Weekend: The Movie.
Yoga
George from the club has recommended his Yoga instructor, who offers a range of courses, some online others in person. Details can be found in the link below: https://www.yogabristol.co.uk/classes/
Congratulations
Well done to everybody in the club who ran at yesterday’s Gwent League in Cardiff. We were blessed with the weather, it was warm, dry and sunny and the conditions underfoot were nice and firm. The route was through Llandaff Fields (don’t worry Geraint, I won’t even attempt to pronounce it!) which is a beautiful area of parkland in the centre of Cardiff.
All ages were out running yesterday, and from the photos it looks as if everybody was enjoying themselves. The log jump was still there and some interesting styles deployed to get over it, some more graceful than others!
Some top performances on the day. The race organisers just need to check the results, but I’m sure these will be available soon.
Well done to Becky Lee who was running just that little bit further yesterday. Becky was taking on the Gower Ultraback, a 56km ultra marathon around the Gower Peninsula. The route involved a stretch of Rhossil Bay Beach, Oxwich Beach, before finishing near the Mumbles.
Good luck to Roybn Ellis and Rich Noble for today. They will both be running the Weston Super Half.
Strava Segment of the Week
Andrew Yuill was feeling good yesterday on his run around the Downs. A whole stack of PR’s, far too many to mention here! Just one of his highlights was a PR on Strava Segment ‘Up Rockleaze’, which is a bot of a false flat in a time of 2:34
