As you probably know, we are partners with Yate and District Athletics Club, a really friendly ‘family’ style club, who also field great teams at all ages (second behind Team Bath in last year’s Avon League). Yate Track may not be as close as Coombe Dingle but it’s well worth the trip (tip: if you live near the M5, go up the A38 from jn. 16 and across from Rudgeway),
We have three ‘Westbury Harrier’ groups training on a Tuesday night at the track (Pat Gallagher, Neil Miller and Richard Hughes), catering for youngsters of 11 all the way through to adults of 70+. There are also Yate coaches there covering various other track and field events, so if you’re feeling shy, get one of our coaches to introduce you. Yate also train on a Thursday night, when Martin Fitzhugh takes a very active middle distance group on the track, and other events are again catered for. For the younger, newer athlete, the Wednesday ‘Yate Academy’ is also a good bet.
