Being held this Sunday (29/03/15) at the Yate Track, the Westbury and Yate Club Throws, Jumps and Middle distance entry form is now on line. Open for school years 4&5 (U11), 6&7 (U13), 8&9 (U15), and 10&11 (U17), this event is your opportunity to register early season times, distances and heights for those who want to compete for the club. It is also an opportunity to try a jump or throw that you would not normally enter. You do not have to be the best or even the top 4 or 5 as there are always some who cannot make it, so if you have competed here you may get your chance to represent the club.
For the under 11s (school years 4&5) there is the Quad Kids competition for Howler throw, 75m, 600m, and long jump. This may be your first opportunity to compete, and can be done in a friendly club environment with athletes who you may know.
It is ‘enter on the day’ at only £3 for the quad kids or 3 other events. Simply print off the entry form, which has the events and time table on it, fill in the tear off entry on the bottom, turn up pay and compete.
The club are looking for as many athletes to have a go as we have always found some surprise themselves in competitions! Please tell as many fellow athletes as possible, we hope to make this a fun, competitive day!
*** Unlike cross-country, places in track and field matches are limited; it is well worth getting known early if you want to find a spot in the team ***
NB While the event is pitched at athletes up to year 11, if you are an U20 and want to come along as a ‘guest’, I’m sure you’d be welcome.
