From : Mike Mewse & Chris Palmer, Men’s Team Managers / Tamsin Chick, Women’s Team Manager
Hope the New Year has started well and you’re looking forward to a successful and enjoyable year of running. Our first target event was the South West Cross Country Championships.
We’re now looking ahead to target English Nationals, Gwent League fixtures and the Spring road relays, With our talented over 35s we will also target a number of masters events.
The English National Cross Country Championships is at Bolesworth Castle near Chester on Saturday 25th February 2023.
This is the running equivalent of the football Cup Final but the difference is that everyone can take part. It’s a fantastic event with over 2000 men in the 12k race and 1000 women on the start line for their 10k race. The races are live streamed – and featured on Youtube and Instagram ! Everyone should run it at least once in their running career !
The club can pay entry fees and contribute towards travel costs. Team Managers (with guidance from Judy our club treasurer) can also help / advise with travel expenses. The club is keen to help but asks runners to look for the most economical ways to travel. Car-share is probably the best option but help with rail fares is possible as well. If the club pays for your entry please make every effort to run. If you’re not sure you will be fit or available to run, you may prefer to pay your own entry fee and then claim back if you run. Entries are now open so hope you can make it. To enter please email details – by Sunday 22nd January.
Some people are planning to go up on Friday 24th and stay in a Travelodge/Premier Inn. https://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/hotels/england/cheshire/crewe/crewe-west.html If you plan to do this the best way is to get a group of 2, 3 or 4 to car share and book rooms (lots of options in the area). You can use the Facebook Members Chat to organise groups. Book early to get the best prices.
