CLUB NOTICES
RunTogether – a reminder to please cancel your run session if you can’t attend, so leaders know not to expect you. This is easily done via the app. Ask if you don’t know how. RunTogether does not issues automatic refunds. Vicky is now processing Monday session refunds and Tamsin Tues-Thurs session refunds. If you think you owed a refund please just message us and we don’t mean to but we can miss some.
Avon 5km Road Relay Championships
With the Cotswold Way Relay this weekend, we look to the next club relay which is the Avon 5km Road Relay Championships being held on Sunday 25th August 2024 (bank holiday weekend) at Cleeve Cricket club BS49 4PP, 11am start. 5km each leg on a relatively flat course. No cost, club pays the entry fee.

3 Legs All Ladies, U20 Men/Ladies, MV50,MV60
Categories – Seniors, MV40, MV50, MV60 FV35, FV45, FV55, FV65,
Last year as you can see from the photo, despite it being bank holiday we had a great turnout and had 16 Westbury Harriers teams take part. It would be great to see this kind of number again. Anyone is welcome to take part, we will try and have teams in all age groups and people run in their vet age category but we may have to move people around depending on the teams. Please sign up on RunTogether (men, women and U20s) as soon as you can to help make the team managers jobs easier.

RACE REPORTS
Tintern trot

Perfect conditions tonight for a 5.5 miles multi terrain race in the heart of the stunning Wye Valley. I tried to capture some action shots of the downhill section towards the end.
Ben and Jonathan, I needed a faster camera or should have videoed you both tapping your feet on the rather large cobblestones to get you in focus!
There were refreshments provided afterwards. A bar, hot food, tea/coffee/and delicious cakes also available from Abbey Mill.
Another great event hosted by Chepstow Harriers, and a great Westbury turnout.
Well Done everyone!
There were winning performances from the Westbury Harriers women’s and men’s team this evening as they both claimed the prizes for the fastest teams – congratulations!
Also individual prizes for Sophie Voller (3rd lady), Rachel Liston (W40) and Ben Wood (M45) – results in due course.

Cotswold way relay

Great day with the Cotswold Relay yesterday.
110 miles split in to 10 legs, starting at Chipping Campden and finishing in front of Bath Abbey. Westbury had 3 teams. A day of all weathers on the most beautiful Cotswold way
Bitton 5k

An fantastic turnout of exceptionally talented Westbury Harriers at this evening’s Bitton 5k! 😉
For the men… leading the Harriers home was Trevor John Fitsall in a very respectable 21.47. Close behind….also with a time of 21.47… was Trevor John Fitsall. Also worth a special mention for a fine performance… was Trevor John Fitsall (21.47). And bringing up the rear was the plodding Trevor John Fitsall in a time of 21.47.
As for the Westbury Ladies (well ‘big girls blouse’ category at least)… a fine run by yes Trevor John Fitsall in 21.47.
And finally… special mention must go to Trevor John Fitsall for ‘reading the memo’ and turning up (or perhaps not reading the memo???)

ACADEMY TRAINING
Just a reminder that the Year 6 girls will be meeting at Coombe dingle tonight and running with the Junior girls 7-8.15pm. Please make yourself known to Jayne/Jason on arrival.
The year 6 boys will meet at Blaise and run with the Junior boys 7-8pm. Please let Neil know that you’re there.

Everyone else in Years 3,4&5 have a normal session.
REMINDER Monday 15th July we will all meet on the field at Coombe Dingle at 6.30pm for our mini sports. The session will finish at 8pm.
Monday 22nd July will be our last session. It will also be for everyone (Gold,silver,bronze) and will be at Blaise 7-8pm. There will be the chance to run in the rivers if your child would like – so please come prepared.

Wednesday Hill Session
Adults, all abilities. Meet every Wednesday at 12pm at the traffic lights by Saville Road on the Downs. Book on via RunTogether. Coffee in the Downs Café at 1pm for anyone that wants to come along.
Thursday intervals
Juniors 6pm, Adults 7pm at Coombe Dingle
Speed work run on well maintained grass playing fields at Coombe dingle sports complex. Intervals are ran on time rather than distance and we have groups to suit every level of runner. Adults book on via RunTogether.
Senior session this week –
10x 2 mins (each 2 mins will include a random 30 secs pick up – listen for the whistle)
Aim for 5k pace and pick up to 3k pace on the whistle.
*option to do 8
* Options are suitable for those coming back from injury/time out, but remember as well it would be more beneficial to sometimes take the reduced option and run quicker, than to complete the full session and run at the same speed as previous training blocks.
