Weekly News

Blaise Blazer. This club championship event takes place on Monday 3rd June so just a reminder that there will be no training, for adults or younger athletes (junior & reception groups). With so many people milling about, car parking restrictions and a race to set up it makes sense, from a practical and safety aspect, to cancel training for this one evening only.

I’m afraid all the places for the race have sold out but there are plenty of volunteering options, arrive early and let us know on the night your availability. If you offer to volunteer you get 10 club championship points.  Please also bring cake for the refreshments afterwards.

Club Kit. A lot of you having been asking about Westbury Harrier club kit recently, so Katie has provided the following update.

‘The next kit sale will be in September when we move back to Coombe Dingle.  In the meantime vests, hoodies and buffs are being stored up at the Blaise Club House and can be purchased on an ad-hoc basis through Tamsin Chick, Katie Hughes or Abi Hall. All sizes back in stock.

As a reminder prices are as follows:
Kids Vests £12 / Adult Vests £15 / Kids Hoody £16 / Adult Hoody £20 / Buffs £8.

We also have some new additions available to purchase – a boot bag (perfect for those cross country spikes) and a Holdall.  Both of these can be purchased direct from Professional Sports and Fitness’ (PSF) website.  Boot bags are £11 and Holdalls are £18. Both can be personalised with either initials (£2) or your name (£4).

Another exciting newcomer is the waterproof fleece lined Westbury Harriers Jacket. Not for running in but again perfect for keeping cosy before and after winter races.  These will also be available to order direct from Professional Sports and Fitness – we will have samples of all sizes from XS to XXL available at the next kit sale to try on so you can order the correct size.

Long and short sleeve t-shirts will be arriving soon. We are also currently investigating crop tops to add to our range as well.  If anyone else has any additional requests or ideas, please do let us know.’

Thanks for the update Katie.

A club member has recently been disrespected for wearing a grubby white cap! The good news, for that particular Westbury Harrier, is the PSF website also stocks caps, with either a printed logo, or for a few pounds more, embroidered.

Volunteers. Many, many, thanks to both Mel Lowe and Mandy Williams who have both offered to help out Emma with the reception group. With such a big turnout of young athletes having an extra pair of hands will be an enormous benefit.

We are still after somebody to manage the club website. Is there anybody in the club who has experience of such things who could help?

Gwent X Country League. I’ve been provided with some dates for the next Gwent’s, although these dates are provisional and may change. This is especially true with the final two fixtures which may need to swap, depending on events at both venues.

9th or 10th Nov: Pembrey
7th Dec: Blaise Castle
8th or 9th Feb: Chepstow
29th Feb/1st Mar: Swansea, Singleton Park
