Vet Men’s Report

Westbury Harriers Veterans / Masters Men

Some very good running from our veteran men in a range of races during November.

Ken Ham (V55), (pictured)  the reigning Avon County V50 cross country champion, continues to produce consistently high level performances. He represented South West Vets in the English Inter Area Cross Country Challenge in Bournemouth on 25th November. Ken was 2nd V55 with an excellent run of 28.13 and was part of the winning area team.

Gwent League       Ewan Paton has previously posted details of the Gwent League results and the full results are now available on the Gwent League website, including Masters men categories from M35 to M65  https://www.gwent-league.org.uk/2017/res172.htm

Ewan himself has been in good form and followed his fine run in Brecon with a 29.44 PB in the Weston Prom race. With Ewan Kilgour, another Vet 40 also running well, the Westbury V45 team is in 5th place in the Gwent League and close to the leading teams. Richard Noble, another of the V45s, is a regular racer with a stream of good results in road and cross country races. His hard training paid off at the Castle Combe 10k on 19th November with 3rd V40 in an impressive 38.13 ( not that far behind speedy son Aidan who recorded a fine 35.03).

David George (V60) is in good form, racing mainly in multi terrain races. He had a particularly good result in the Avebury 8 (actually a 9.2 mile race !) on 26th November  – 1st V60 and 19th overall in a time of 1.09.46.

Ken Lovell (39.41) and Jullian Bailey-Gard (38.14), both MV65, ran well in the Weston Prom 5 battling hard in the conditions – mainly to stay ahead of their wives Ann and Sandra who also produced good runs. Ann picked up yet another 1st FV60 prize with a time of 48.38. Another in action on the Prom was  Trevor Fitsall MV40 – making a 36.12 clocking look very easy.

I was pleased to return to action after a long break, sneaking under 36 minutes at Weston with a 35.57 clocking. Great to see so many Westbury Harriers out on a miserable evening.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Gwent League in Pembrey on Sunday 3rd.

COME ALONG … it’s a day at the seaside with a nice relaxing Sunday run !
