Track and Field with Westbury Harriers / Avon T&F Championships

Now that the cross-country season has finished, the clocks are about to go forwards, and there’s a whiff of spring in the air, it’s time to plan your summer campaigns.  Track and Field leagues are organised through our partner club, Yate and District AC, but there are plenty of events which you can enter off your own back.  One of the first of the season is the Avon Track & Field Championships, for which entries are now open.  This is a great opportunity for young and old to try your hand at something new, or dust your spikes off for a bit of a burn-up.

There are also a number of ‘Open’ meetings through the summer, with a subset of track and field events.  The U13 and U15 Avon ‘Championship’ 800m races will be held as part of the B&W Open Meeting on 23rd May, but you need to enter via the Avon T&F Championship forms as well.

There are two large groups of Westbury Harriers training at Yate track on a Tuesday night, one of youngsters 12 – 17 headed by Pat Gallagher, and the other of Seniors 18 – 80 headed by Richard Hughes.  We would always love to see new faces.
