Westbury runners of all ages took part Saturday’s Midland Counties Athletic Association Road Relay Championships – thank you to everyone who travelled to Sutton Park in Birmingham to run, and a big well done to our medal-winning junior teams!

Ellie Leather, Hannah Hobbs and Ellie Wallace took gold in the U17s race. Ellie Leather ran the first leg to finish in a solid seventh place, before handing over to Hannah who chased down five of the teams in front to cross the line in second. Ellie Wallace ran the anchor leg, bringing the team home to win gold.
All three girls competed in the 1500m final of the England Schools Athletics Association National Championships in Gateshead earlier in July, and will now look forward to competing in the National Road Relay Championships in October.

Meanwhile, Kate Howard, Rosie Hamilton-James and Rhiannon Paton took silver in the U13s race. Kate ran the second fastest time of the day, having only recently joined the team from the U11s, while Rosie clocked the fourth fastest time of the day.
