WESTBURY HARRIERS VETERANS / MASTERS
Autumn / Winter 2016 – 2017
Well done to all of you vets who did the Bristol Half Marathon – some fine running with impressive times. Hope all those running in the Cardiff Half Marathon have a good race.
There are still some good half marathon and road races coming up and the cross country season is just around the corner.
I hope you will join us at the Gwent Cross Country League fixtures. The first event is a classic cross country course at Bridgend on Sunday 16th October. Races take place for a range of age groups for men and women. The men’s events are normally around 10k and it’s best to use spikes. There are individual and team competitions in veterans age groups : 35+ 45+ 55+ and 65+. Entries are on the day. Other dates : Saturday 12th November – Brecon. Saturday 3rd December is our home fixture at Blaise. Other events are on 11/12 February 2017 and 4/5 March 2017 Venues to be announced later.
I will forward race times as soon as possible.
The Gloucestershire Cross Country League is another series of races. Fixtures start on 15th October at Little Rissington. You can sign up to run the series. Full details are on the website: www.athletics4u.co.uk/cross-country
The Tri Counties (Somerset, Avon and Wiltshire) Cross Country Championships will take place on Sunday 11th December at Bath University. The South West Cross Country Championships will follow – date and times to follow.
The British Masters Cross Country Championships is in Liverpool on 18th March 2017.
The British Masters Athletics Federation have a number of events (See BMAF website).
I am putting together a list of road and multi terrain races where we, as vets, can compete for individual and team prizes.
If you know of any events where we can take teams or groups of individuals please let me know.
