Weekly News – Sunday 2nd February 2025

Westbury Harriers Weekly News

Hi there!

Hope everyone has had a great week of running and well done to everyone who ran the Doynton Hard half today. A tough and muddy race although luckily the weather was much better than last weekend with beautiful blue sky. A lovely day for a run!

Lots going on at the moment so I’ll get straight on with it, but just before that I wanted to say I’ve loved being back with the club on a couple of Monday runs in the last couple of weeks. It’s been such a pleasure to be back running with everyone.

Take care all and happy running

Sophie

Artie and Rosie bring back medals !

Congratulations to two of our top runners.

There was more success for Rosie Hamilton-James as she followed up her win in the South West Championships with a hard fought bronze medal in the Senior Women’s race at the Midlands XC Championships. With tough conditions and a high class field, Rosie battled for bronze behind GB triathlete Olivia Mathias and former European gold medallist Gemma Steel.

Fast improving Artie Savage-Swaine has been in good form lately and had an excellent run for 3rd place in the U20 Men’s Championship. Artie is now studying and training in London and will join up with the men’s team for the National XC in February.

CLUB NOTICES
COACH BOOKED FOR THE NATIONALS!

We have booked a coach to take us to Parliament hill for the most iconic race in British XC. From the London skyline backdrop to ‘that hill’ and the mass start line, Parliament hill never fails to wow.

We are getting picked up from Coombe dingle, and will be picking up/dropping off from Yate as well. The club will be subsidizing the travel (there may be a very small fee to pay) and your race fee. This means the only thing you need to worry about is what size spikes to wear!

Please email Mike or Tamsin if you have entered and want a place on the coach.

Gwent league fixtures confirmed.

Brecon training weekend

Hi allDean and I are looking at organising another Westbury Harriers weekend away on 26-28 September 2025. This time to keep travel easy, we’ll be going back to the Brecon Beacons. We’re hoping to be able to keep the cost to around £250-265. That will include food, guiding, accommodation and yoga on Saturday afternoon.
Please could you either comment below or send me a message to let me know if you are interested. We will then sort out the accommodation (no one will be in bunk beds) and confirm the price.
Any questions, just let me know.

Dan Summers.
